IBM iSeries DB2 SQL Developer

We’re looking for a hands-on iSeries DB2 SQL Developer with strong experience building database-centric applications. This role supports a financial systems modernization initiative and requires deep expertise in DB2 SQL and stored procedures. This is not an ETL- or analytics-focused role.

Develop and maintain various database applications on the IBM iSeries platform, utilizing SQL stored procedures, modernizing tables, performance tuning and working with large transactional tables.

Expert level experience with SQL stored procedures implementing business logic on the IBM iSeries platform. Please give examples of 2 projects where they have done this. Please note that this is a MUST.

+ experience with coding custom implementations for HFM, Oracle financials, etc.

+ Conversion/modernization experience from RPG to SQL stored procedures in db2

IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS etc.

A plus would be Application development experience interacting with front end using REST APIs, Json

A plus would be exposure to python, microservices, VS code IDE development

A plus would be git source control and integration

Hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite in Downtown Houston, TX.

Must-Have Skills

Strong DB2 database development

Advanced SQL & stored procedures

Experience implementing business logic directly in the database

Performance tuning, logging, and exception handling

Ability to clearly explain how database-side logic supports applications

️ Candidates whose experience is primarily ETL, data pipelines, or reporting will not be considered unless they also have strong DB2 application development experience.

Experience supporting or integrating with financial systems

Exposure to Hyperion (HFM), Oracle Financials, or similar platforms

Application integration experience (APIs, services)
