Job Description Summary:
The Automation Developer Analyst - Senior for the Commercial Digital Technology team will provide automation solutions for applications encompassing both test and task, driving projects to delivery with automation and assisting in automation of both data & environment.
Detailed Description:
This role requires advanced experience in test automation, including functional, regression, and integration testing, along with a solid understanding of TDD/ATDD. The developer will translate User Stories into automated test cases, build sustainable automation frameworks, maintain test data, and support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
Success in this role requires someone who is organized, detail oriented, self driven, and able to work effectively across teams in a fast paced, agile environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
Develop scalable automation frameworks (fixtures, helpers, modular components, POM).
Translate User Stories and acceptance criteria into effective automated tests.
Build and maintain test data management and environment setup scripts.
Drive the migration from Ruby/Cucumber to Playwright Test.
Conduct functional, integration, and regression testing.
Participate in architectural and design discussions to ensure testability.
Integrate and maintain automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
Enable automated, parallel, and cross browser test execution.
Contribute to pipeline optimization, failure diagnostics, and reporting.
Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, QA, and offshore teams.
Participate in multiple scrum teams and support cross team quality initiatives.
Lead test case reviews, automation code reviews, and requirement review sessions.
Support defect triage, severity assessment, and end to end issue resolution.
Provide mentorship to junior automation engineers.
Generate test run dashboards and execution summaries using Azure DevOps.
Participate in release readiness reviews and production validation efforts.
Ensure compliance with SDLC and testing standards.
Identify process gaps and propose improvements.
Analyze automation metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Support accessibility testing in coordination with UX and product teams.
Encourage and model best practices for coding, testing, and documentation.
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of related experience
Strong hands on expertise with Playwright using TypeScript or JavaScript.
Experience with CI/CD platforms:
GitHub Actions, Harness, Jenkins
Solid understanding of automation frameworks and software testing fundamentals.
Experience with Azure/GCP/AWS DevOps (pipelines, repos, test plans, dashboards).
Experience with relational databases (SQL Server or similar).
Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, browsers, JavaScript).
Familiarity with ATDD/TDD principles.
Exposure to Cucumber/Specflow (for migration awareness).
Preferred Requirements:
6+ years of related experience
Experience with accessibility testing tools (axe, Playwright accessibility checks, browser tools).
Experience with Ruby/RubyMine (beneficial during migration).
Experience with Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, test plans, dashboards).
Excellent communication skills—able to collaborate cross functionally.
Strong organizational and analytical skills; able to work under pressure.
Ability to work effectively with onshore and offshore teams.
Experience building modular, data-driven, or keyword-driven frameworks.
Good understanding of OOP principles in TypeScript/JavaScript (or Ruby/Java/C#).
Experience with API testing (Playwright’s APIRequestContext, Postman, etc.).
