Join our dynamic insurance company where we believe in making a genuine impact. As a member of our Complex Claims Unit in the Hartford Global Specialty Claims Division, you will play a key role in managing intricate construction defect and property damage claims from inception to resolution.
In this crucial position, your expertise in handling complex claims will shine as you work with both primary and excess coverages. You will engage in detailed contractual analysis to clarify indemnity, contribution obligations, and explore risk transfer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a diverse caseload of litigated and non-litigated construction defect claims under commercial general liability policies.
Conduct in-depth investigations and assess the gathered information critically.
Make informed coverage determinations and deliver clear communications to insured clients and stakeholders.
Establish and adjust expense and indemnity reserves according to prescribed authority levels.
Present cases requiring reserve authorization exceeding established authority levels to management.
Devise and implement effective resolution strategies to secure optimal case outcomes.
Oversee the litigation process and defense counsel, including budget management and bill reviews.
Attend trials and mediations as necessary to advocate effectively on behalf of the company.
Contribute to departmental initiatives through participation in audits, projects, and developing new products.
Compile detailed reports and provide updates on case developments to senior leadership.
Collaborate with business teams to analyze claim trends and patterns for continuous improvement.
Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries from agents and policyholders.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is preferred; a law degree is advantageous or equivalent experience is accepted.
At least seven years of experience in managing complex litigated construction defect and property damage claims.
Knowledge of owner-controlled insurance policies and wrap policies is a plus.

This role offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates residing near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL, Alpharetta, GA) are expected to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote candidates will have the flexibility to work from home but should be available to come into the office as needed.
Compensation:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $107,600 to $161,400, based on experience and performance. This compensation package includes potential bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition rewards.
