About The Position

Possess advanced knowledge of the International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification (ICD-CM), Procedural Coding System (PCS), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).

Have practical knowledge of reimbursement systems such as Prospective Payment System (PPS), Diagnostic Related Groupings (DRGs), and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC).

Create clear and accurate audit findings and recommendations in detailed reports to support Coders, Auditors, Managers, and Directors within the organization. Provide educational feedback based on audit findings.

Identify and communicate documentation issues affecting coding accuracy and opportunities for improvement.

Guide departmental staff in recognizing and resolving coding issues and error trends to drive improvement.

Deliver ongoing training to coding staff regarding updates in coding practices and address areas of weakness identified during audits.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of a formal coding program with preference for AHIMA and AAPC credentials (CCS, RHIT, CIC) and over 5 years of progressive professional coding/reimbursement experience.

Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and health record content.

Strong understanding of coding guidelines and ability to apply them to audit findings.

Skilled in navigating multiple client systems and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Experience with Cerner, EPIC, and 3M 360 Encompass is preferred.

Preferred experience in auditing for an academic medical facility.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM EST. Compensation Range: $28-$30/hour. Full-time position.
