The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructor assistants to teach on-site for the MasterScholars Summer Program 2026 offered in collaboration with KSE Global.

We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses.

* Innovative Technologies for Ocean Health * Data Analytics and Machine Learning for Engineering Solutions * Environmental Economics and Policy Strategy * Renewable Materials and Bioengineering Instructor duties include but are not limited to: * Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments.

* Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.

* Stay current within the subject, discipline or field of practice.

* Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline/explain the grading policies for the course.

* Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.

* Employ teaching methodologies that support the academic success of students with a variety of backgrounds, experiences and learning styles * Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades.

* Employ culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies in the classroom (including teaching non-native speakers and/or students with academic letters of accommodations for learning disabilities). * Use subject-matter expertise and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum.

* Participate in program preparation meetings with the Program Manager before and throughout the duration of the program Compensation includes payment for instructional hours, meetings, course development, and grading responsibilities.

The posting will remain open until March 2027 to accommodate department needs.

The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, academic positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department.

Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis, and appointment length is based upon course section schedule(s). Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.
