Position Overview
Reporting to the Managing Director, Investment Management Systems, the Software Engineer III will work with the Firm’s development team and be primarily responsible for the on-going design, development, and production support of the firm’s proprietary investment models. The team also supports tools and processes related to investment decision making, trading and back-office operations. The Software Engineer III must possess excellent programming skills.
Key Job Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for model/data platform code, infrastructure changes, and application deployments across Snowflake, Databricks, and supporting services.
Build and manage cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform ensuring environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and auditable.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and rapid incident response across all data infrastructure components.
Automate environment provisioning, secrets management, and configuration management to reduce manual processes and improve consistency.
Collaborate with data engineers on orchestration tool evaluation and deployment, ensuring chosen tools are properly integrated into the infrastructure and CI/CD workflows.
Support the data governance program by implementing technical controls for data access, audit logging, and environment isolation that align with the firm's governance framework.
Manage container orchestration and compute infrastructure as needed for data processing workloads and internal tooling.
Create and maintain runbooks, architectural diagrams, disaster recovery plans, and operational documentation.
Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response for model/data platform infrastructure issues.
Skills and Knowledge Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
4-7+ years of professional experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles.
Strong experience with Azure, including core services such as compute, storage, networking, and authentication.
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform.
Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
Solid scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and familiarity with orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
Experience with version control workflows in Git, including branching strategies and code review processes.
Solid understanding of software backend and frontend
Strong user support, accurate and logical problem solving and communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Skills and Knowledge Desired
Familiarity with the financial services industry and associated regulatory or compliance requirements.
Experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect from an infrastructure and deployment perspective.
Knowledge of cost management and FinOps practices for cloud and SaaS platforms.
Experience implementing observability stacks using tools like Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or PagerDuty.
This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA which requires weekly attendance.
