Why This Role Matters
Over the last decade, global efforts have reached nearly one billion people with life-changing treatments for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). To sustain this momentum, we need more than just medical datawe need powerful economic evidence.
The Task Force for Global Health has developed an interactive Python-based ROI tool (using the Streamlit framework) to help governments and donors see the economic value of investing in health. As our Technical Support Intern, you won't just be "coding"youll be building the bridge between complex data science and real-world policy change.
The Mission
Your goal is to ensure the long-term sustainability and usability of the ROI tool. You will help transform a technical web application into a user-friendly resource that program managers around the world can use independently.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture: Review the Python/Streamlit codebase, document dependencies, and create a "flight manual" for how to deploy and maintain the tool.
Usability & UX: Act as the "first user." Conduct testing to identify friction points and recommend interface improvements for non-technical users.
Data Storytelling: Map global datasets (WHO, ESPEN, World Bank) to the tool and create compelling visualizations that make ROI results easy to interpret.
Guidance Development: Author "Quick-Start" guides and step-by-step instructions to empower country-level health teams.
Impact Analysis: Run sample scenarios for specific countries to generate policy-relevant narratives and advocacy materials.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a technically curious graduate or advanced undergraduate student in Public Health, Data Science, Health Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
Technical Toolkit:
Data Proficiency: Experience with data analysis tools (Python, R, or advanced Excel).
Visualization: Familiarity with dashboard frameworks (Streamlit is a plus, but experience with Tableau or Power BI is also great).
Communication: The ability to translate "tech-speak" into clear, written guidance for global partners.
Whats In It For You?
Real-World Impact: Contribute directly to global efforts to eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases.
Portfolio Building: Gain tangible experience in digital tool deployment, technical documentation, and health economic modeling.
Mentorship: Work closely with the Business Strategy Manager and global health experts at a world-renowned organization.
Flexibility: A remote-friendly, 10-week schedule designed to fit alongside your academic goals.
About The Task Force for Global Health: We are an international non-profit organization that works to improve health for people most in need. Join us this summer to help build the evidence base for a healthier world.
