General Purpose

The BCA Production Internship is a fast-paced, hands-on internship focused on presenting multiple live music concerts, DJ sets, movies and events each week in various outdoor settings. Interns gain real-world experience working with skilled event staff, performers and patrons. The intern team is an essential part of BCA’s summer events coming to life for the community. By the end of the internship, participants will have worked on over 80 events, including Festival of Fools and the City’s Juneteenth Celebration. A confirmed, but varied schedule will be provided after application.

Learning Outcomes:

Interns learn to read stage plots, input lists and artists riders – industry standard paperwork.

Interns gain confidence and experience in working directly with performing artists in a live setting.

Interns learn about live sound microphone selection and placement for optimal outcomes, using industry standard microphones and techniques.

Interns learn how to effectively use Allen & Heath digital consoles (SQ-5 and SQ-6) and learn how to develop and live mix.

Interns learn about event site logistics, including tables and chairs, signage, safety and security considerations and safely working with temporary event power.

Union Affiliation: Non-Union

Pay Grade: Unpaid, for academic credit

Remote Tier 1: Zero (0) days remote/week

This is an unpaid internship with the ability to earn college credit at: University of Vermont, Champlain College, or St. Michael's College.

Essential Job Functions

A desire to learn how to successfully use current technology in the entertainment industry

A desire to work on a team of both professionals and peers that are learning

The ability to maintain a schedule, arrive on time, and work on weekends and evenings

The comfort to work outside, in diverse environments such as City Hall Park and the Church Street Marketplace while doing your best work and maintaining a professional level of work.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.

Has a strong interest in live sound, lighting and event, production or artist management.

Ability to work with professional performing artists.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.

Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the job functions.

Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnel policies.
