Job Summary:
The Clinical Supervisor is the direct manager of Clinical Therapists and is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, scheduling, supervision, and performance oversight of the clinical team. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.
This role combines hands-on clinical supervision with operational management. The Clinical Supervisor ensures high-quality therapeutic services, maintains documentation integrity, manages staffing coverage, and partners with the Clinical Director on hiring and onboarding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group supervision to counselors, therapists, and clinical interns
Support staff in applying evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders
Review and approve assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans
Monitor clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, timeliness and compliance with regulatory standards and payer requirements
Maintain audit-ready clinical records
Support therapists in managing complex or high-risk cases
Develop and manage therapist schedules to ensure appropriate clinical coverage
Approve time off requests and coordinate coverage for absences
Monitor caseload distribution and therapist productivity
Address day-to-day performance and workflow concerns
Promote accountability, structure, and consistency across the team
Partner with the Clinical Director and HR to recruit and interview therapists
Provide hiring recommendations
Coordinate onboarding and training of new hires
Ensure clinicians are trained in ASAM criteria, documentation standards, and program structure
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
Ensure treatment services align with program philosophy, policies, and licensing requirements
Monitor client progress and program outcomes; recommend service improvements
Assist in development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
Collaborate with Medical, Nursing, Case Management, Admissions, Business Development, and Utilization Review teams
Escalate clinical or compliance concerns to the Clinical Director as needed
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Active Maryland licensure (LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent)
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health
Minimum 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role
Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and behavioral health documentation standards
Experience managing staff schedules and performance oversight
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Schedule:
Typical Monday - Friday with an occasional weekend and holiday.
Compensation:
$110k + DOE
