Customer Service Representative - Job Description
The Customer Service Representative serves as the liaison between McGrath’s customers, and the manufacturing operation to ensure customer satisfaction by clearly and accurately communicating job specifications and client expectations. It is REQUIRED that candidates must have a background in commercial printing/packaging industry.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
● Field incoming requests from clients and sales team via phone, email and walk-ins.
● Gathers client job specifications and prepares quotations.
● Converts quotations into jobs and ensures that all relevant job specifications and client instructions are clearly documented in the order entry system and on the job ticket.
● Works with the prepress department to manage prepress and proofing process, and coordinates proof approvals with clients.
● Manages and monitors work in progress with the plant to ensure 100% on time delivery of all proofs, samples and jobs.
● Assists Production Managers/ Interact with production staff to ensure customer needs and expectations are met
● Documents job pricing, additional chargeable costs, freight and postage and ensures timely invoicing off all projects.
● Primary point of contact for appointed clients, managing client communications and face to face visits as needed
Secondary Job Responsibilities:
● Educates and informs new and existing clients of all of McGrath’s offerings and capabilities and is proactive in finding opportunities for cross-selling.
● Assists in general office and administrative duties.
● Assists in prepress, printing and bindery processes if needed.
● Ensures Customer Satisfaction through quick response communications, industry knowledge and exceptional service.
Critical skills, Knowledge and Behaviors:
● High attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
● A thorough understanding of the manufacturing processes employed by, and products offered at McGrath Printing.
● Ability to effectively manage the life cycle of a job through the manufacturing process, including prioritizing and following up on the tasks required.
● Effective analytical, creative problem solving and decision-making skills.
● Proactive in anticipating and alerting others to problems and issues with projects.
● Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and can effectively communicate with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds, education and experience.
● Demonstrates an orientation towards quality and customer satisfaction.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Required (i.e. outlook, excel, word, powerpoint)
● Proficiency in Adobe CC and/or print imposition software a plus
Required Experience or Education:
● A minimum of 5 years of commercial printing required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
● Work is mostly performed in an office environment with long periods of time sitting and using a computer.
● Occasional time in the manufacturing environment is required, with the ability to stand for periods of time and lift 30 pound cartons.
