As a Machine Operator / Feeder you will ensure smooth and efficient machine operation by managing material feeding, monitoring production, maintaining quality, and supporting press operators. This role is critical to maintaining production quality, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Material Feeding: Load paper, boards, labels, or other media into printing or packaging machines to keep production running efficiently
Monitor Machine Operations: Observe machine performance, adjust settings as needed, and report abnormalities or production issues promptly.
Quality Control: Inspect feed materials and outputs for defects such as misprints, alignment issues, or material damage and remove flawed items
Troubleshooting & Assistance: Clear jams, align feed mechanisms, and assist lead press operators or production staff with routine adjustments and maintenance tasks
Production Data Logging: Record operational data such as job counts, downtime, and quality metrics for internal tracking and reporting
Maintain Cleanliness & Safety: Follow 5S or similar protocols to keep your work area organized, safe, and compliant with company processes and OSHA standards.
Team Collaboration: Work with supervisors, maintenance staff, and other operators to coordinate changeovers, demand shifts, or urgent production runs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically expected.
Technical Aptitude: Comfort handling industrial machinery and feeders, adjusting equipment, and learning SOPs quickly.
Attention to Detail: Able to spot misfeeds, print defects, and maintain consistent quality standards.
Physical Requirements: Capable of standing during shifts and lifting up to ~50 lbs
Teamwork & Communication: Clear verbal communication skills to report issues and coordinate with team members.
Safety & Procedure Focus: Adherence to workplace safety rules and ability to learn and follow standard operating procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with printing machines, large-format or offset equipment.
Forklift certification or willingness to train to assist with material staging and movement.
Basic computer literacy for logging job data or reporting issues.
Familiarity with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
