Job Title: Safety Manager Industry: Specialty Chemical and Raw Materials Manufacturing Location: On-site in Catawba County, North Carolina Job Responsibilities: This position will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of some engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.
Become familiar with production processes at all local facilities.
Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical and work hazards.Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures and administer worker’s compensation program accordingly.Report or review findings from accident investigations and facilities inspections.Train employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipmentReview employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing safety.Interfaces with regulatory agencies, committee members and institutional staff to formulate corrective actions.Ensures personnel training and corrective action follow-up is completed.Develops and implements accident investigation, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.Conducts on-site reviews and audits of operations and facilities.Directs industrial hygiene, occupational and general safety programs to ensure a safe environment and comply with safety standards.Responds and provides assistance to all emergency situations.Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle work-related injuries and make needed changes.Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.Keep accurate records for OSHA compliance.Manage worker's compensation claims, OSHA 300, OSHA 300A, and OSHA 301 forms.
Skills and Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Occupation Health and Safety preferred, or equivalent work experience Business, Chemical, Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial field required2-3 years’ experience in safety or an equivalent combination sufficient to perform essential functions of this position.Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Willingness to work as a team member in a “hands-on" production environment Job Snapshot: Hours: Typically, Monday-Friday 8:00 - 5:00pm.
Occasional off-shift work will be required.
