Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for travel assignments in long-term care (LTC) and skilled nursing facilities (SNF). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience across various healthcare settings including geriatrics, acute care, and specialized nursing. This role offers an opportunity to work in diverse clinical environments, utilizing advanced skills such as IV infusion, medication administration, and patient assessment, while providing compassionate care to a wide range of patient populations. The position requires proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and adherence to HIPAA regulations, ensuring high standards of confidentiality and quality care.
Duties
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and physical examinations.
Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders and protocols.
Manage IV infusions, catheter care, and tube feeding procedures with aseptic technique.
Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and sterile processing as needed.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations such as blood draws (venipuncture), specimen collection, and processing.
Monitor patients on ventilators or with respiratory needs; manage airway and oxygen therapy.
Document all patient interactions thoroughly within EMR/EHR systems like Cerner, Epic, or Athenahealth.
Provide education on health coaching, discharge planning, and chronic disease management.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Ensure infection control practices are maintained according to facility standards.
Support patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s care, behavioral health needs, or developmental disabilities as required.
Requirements
Valid LPN license in the state of practice.
Proven experience in settings such as long-term care, hospice, ICU, emergency room, or medical-surgical units.
Knowledge of ICD-9/10 coding and medical terminology; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner, Epic, eClinicalWorks; experience with medical imaging or lab processing is advantageous.
Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and infection control protocols.
Ability to perform venipuncture, IV insertion/infusion, catheterization, and other technical skills confidently.
Excellent patient assessment skills; compassionate approach to senior care or pediatric patients including neonatal ventilator management or toddler/neonatal care experience preferred.
Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
Flexibility to adapt to various clinical environments; travel nursing experience is desirable but not required.
