As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Payments Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within JPMorgan's Access Mobile application.

Job responsibilities

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

Leads engineers; set technical direction, coach, mentor, and conduct performance reviews

Defines service boundaries, domain models, and platform guardrails. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

Strong Java 17+ fundamentals. reactive programming, high-throughput services, or low-latency tuning

Frameworks: Spring Boot 3+, Kotlin Multiplatform, Spring cloud for building resilient, observable services.

API Design: RESTful best practices for mobile applications, OpenAPI/Swagger.

Resilience patters: Timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and rate limiting.

Testing: Junit5, Mockito, TestContainers, and e2e automation.

Kubernetes & Cloud platforms: Containerization, K8 fundamentals and security (secrets management, network policies and admission controls), Packaging and Deployments.

CI/CD & developer productivity: Git strategies, code review rigor. Pipelines with quality gates, Feature flags, automated rollbacks and ephemeral/preview environments.

Observability: Metrics, logs, and traces using standard telemetry tools. SLI/SLO design, error budgets, alerting, runbooks and incident management. Capacity planning, load testing, and chaos engineering.

Certifications: CKAD or AWS cloud
