JOB DUTIES
A Structural Cabling Technician may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification NI (Network Installer) in addition to the following:
Lays out work and preps materials for installation
Performs overhead and underground layout and rough-in
Terminates all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6
Measures, cuts, bends, assembles, and installs cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools
Assembles and installs relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields, and associated components
Performs fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types
Performs structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints
Correctly sets up and operates copper and fiber optic testing equipment
Troubleshoots and resolves problems in structured cabling systems
Operates hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks
Performs other project-related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor
Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures
REQUIREMENTS
Experience: MUST have 3 or more years of on-the-job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Network Cabling Technician level
Technical Knowledge:
Basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
Understanding of basic communications theory and its application to installations
Proficiency in copper and fiber optic cable termination and testing
Work Requirements: Must be able to work occasional overtime as required
License: Current Driver's License and must have own reliable transportation
