Job Description
The Packaging Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting packaging components and systems within the liquids manufacturing area. This position focuses on packaging design, materials, specifications, and lifecycle support, emphasizing change management, optimization, and documentation. The role requires close collaboration with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure that packaging components meet quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
Support packaging components used in liquids manufacturing.
Understand how packaging components interface with manufacturing equipment.
Evaluate how packaging is designed, molded, manufactured, and assembled.
Own and maintain packaging specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Manage packaging documentation with a strong attention to detail.
Support packaging lifecycle activities, including changes and optimizations.
Work with vendors to improve packaging components and materials.
Source and evaluate packaging samples from the production line.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Ensure all packaging changes are fully documented and approved.
Essential Skills
Experience in packaging engineering or packaging science.
Understanding of packaging components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Ability to manage specifications and BOMs accurately.
Strong communication skills and comfort working with vendors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Level 2 Packaging Engineer experience.
Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetics.
Familiarity with packaging components used in liquid products.
Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related discipline.
GMP experience.
Work Environment
Work within a GMP environment in a clean, state-of-the-art facility featuring a mix of office space, labs, and manufacturing areas. The role offers flexibility around work hours, with a minimum of 40 hours expected and core hours from 9am-3pm, allowing flexibility around start and end times.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hr.
