Technical Services Manager - Flexographic / Gravure Printing

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to support customers in the wide web flexographic and gravure printing segments. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between the company and key customers, ensuring successful implementation and performance of water-based and solvent-based inks and coatings used in flexible packaging.

The Technical Service Manager will lead technical support initiatives, conduct press trials, troubleshoot printing challenges, and collaborate closely with customers as well as internal teams including R&D, manufacturing, sales, and regulatory departments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support to customers using flexographic and gravure printing processes

Conduct on-site troubleshooting, press optimization, and print performance evaluations

Lead product trials, new product introductions, and technical audits at customer facilities

Work closely with internal teams to develop technical solutions tailored to customer requirements

Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders

Provide technical guidance to field service representatives when required

Maintain accurate technical reports, service documentation, and communication records

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Printing Technology, or a related field preferred

Minimum 5 years of experience supporting flexographic and/or gravure printing processes

Experience working with water-based or solvent-based inks used in flexible packaging

Strong knowledge of pressroom operations, substrates, drying systems, and surface treatments

Ability to troubleshoot print defects and perform color matching

Strong communication and customer engagement skills

Willingness to travel frequently to customer locations

Preferred Experience

Knowledge of color management systems such as X-Rite

Familiarity with lamination, coating, or converting processes

Understanding of VOC compliance and printing industry safety standards
