About the Role
EdgeConneX is seeking a Chief Application Architect to serve as the senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, strategy, and roadmap of the company's critical software applications - including EdgeOS, Virtual Guard, and CMMS. This role bridges business needs with technical execution by defining scalable, secure, and cost-effective architectural frameworks.
Beyond core platform development, this role will be instrumental in shaping EdgeConneX's AI solution development and driving automation initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep software architecture experience, a pragmatic build-vs-buy mindset, and the ability to influence across technical and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Define, maintain, and communicate the application strategy, target architectures, and technology roadmaps to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Own the technical architecture for EdgeOS, Virtual Guard, CMMS, and emerging AI/automation solutions.
Author and oversee Technical Architecture Documents (TADs), coding standards, and engineering best practices.
Evaluate and select tools, frameworks, and platforms (e.g., multi-cloud, .NET ecosystem) aligned with business objectives - applying rigorous build-vs-buy analysis with second- and third-order thinking.
Lead and mentor development teams and junior architects; drive proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives to validate new technologies.
Collaborate with business leaders, product owners, and IT teams to ensure IT strategy aligns with business goals.
Ensure all applications are properly integrated across the enterprise ecosystem.
Architect solutions that are secure, scalable, and compliant with zero-trust principles.
Identify and drive automation opportunities, distinguishing when to leverage automation tooling versus custom development.
Contribute to AI solution development strategy, including evaluation of AI/ML platforms, integration patterns, and use cases for EdgeConneX operations. Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in software development, design, and application architecture.
Deep proficiency in .NET/C# and modern front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Hands-on experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native architecture patterns.
Demonstrated expertise in enterprise software architecture frameworks and system integration.
Proven ability to map complex business requirements to technical solutions and navigate ambiguity.
Strong understanding of security architecture including zero-trust models.
Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams in a senior technical capacity.
Practical experience with AI/ML platforms, automation frameworks, or intelligent operations tooling.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - able to influence at the executive level.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in data center, infrastructure, or critical facilities technology environments.
Familiarity with CMMS platforms, building management systems, or IoT/edge computing architectures.
Extensive experience building agentic AI agents and multi-model AI solutions (e.g., orchestrating multiple LLMs, vision models, or specialized models within a single workflow).
Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, automation frameworks, or intelligent operations tooling.
Track record of leading build-vs-buy evaluations with measurable business outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to deliver production-quality software at a rapid pace - comfortable operating in fast-cycle, high-iteration environments.
Experience with Agile/DevOps practices at scale.
