The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Mechanic in the Shop Department for Public Works with an application deadline of Tuesday, March 24th, 2026. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.

Nature of Work

This is journey level maintenance and repair work of vehicles and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a vehicle maintenance supervisor. The employee provides guidance, training and assistance to lower-level employees. Please read the attached job description for complete details.

Education, Experience, Other Requirements

Graduation from high school and/or vocational school and four years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Dakota commercial driver's license and proper endorsements (Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement).

Required to supply and maintain, in good condition, tools needed for the repair of all vehicles and equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

The assigned salary range for Light Equipment Operator under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is a Grade 54, which is $23.13 per hour- $34.34 per hour.

This is a full time, FLSA Non-Exempt position eligible for overtime.
