Job Description:

As a Test Automation Engineer you will partner with BBW development, Devops, product and vendor teams to establish and execute scalable test automation frameworks and quality engineering practices.

a. This includes supporting various seamless commerce initiatives such as Point of Sale, Omnichannel Integration, Hubs, mobile applications, and e-commerce sites.

This position involves contributing to and enhancing CI-CD based automation strategies with application monitoring solutions utilizing a blend of strong technical expertise, organizational capabilities, and cross team collaboration.

You will be expected to take greater ownership of automation architecture, test strategy and framework improvements while identifying opportunities to improve quality engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a passion for improving engineering productivity and product quality, is confident in proposing pragmatic solutions to complex technical challenges and actively contributes to learning and growth of the team.

This is a position on the BBW IT omni channel team responsible for automated testing on our Point-of-Sale solution and Backend services. This is an individual contributor position that reports administratively to a Test Automation Manager while collaborating closely with cross functional teams.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute high quality, reusable and scalable test automation frameworks and test suites supporting functional, integration, API and regression testing.

Collaborate closely with Development, QA, Product and vendor teams to define and implement automation strategies supporting project and application initiatives.

Contribute to Shift Left and continuous testing initiatives by integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines.

Analyze automated test results, monitor test execution health, and provide actionable insights into product quality and release readiness.

Continuously improve automation coverage, test stability, framework capabilities, and execution efficiency

Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and Delivery Leads to define test strategies and ensure quality requirements are met across releases.

Contribute to test strategy planning, including automation roadmaps, test coverage improvements, and resource planning for ongoing initiatives.

Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on automation frameworks, tools, and best practices.

Participate in technical interviews, candidate evaluations, and onboarding of new team members.

· 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years focused on test automation development and frameworks.

· Strong programming proficiency in Python (preferred), Java, or similar object-oriented languages.

· Hands-on experience with REST API automation and GraphQL testing using tools/frameworks such as Postman, Python Requests, REST Assured, or similar.

· Strong experience with UI automation frameworks such as PyTest (preferred), Playwright (preferred), Selenium, Cucumber, or equivalent tools.

· Demonstrated experience building and maintaining open-source test automation frameworks and automation utilities.

· Strong understanding of modern automation design patterns and techniques including:

a. BDD (Behavior Driven Development)

b. Page Object Model (POM)

c. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

d. Test containerization

e. Test parallelization

· Proficiency with Git version control systems, including branching strategies, commits, pull requests, rebasing, and code reviews.

· Experience automating multiple test layers including UI, API, Integration and Performance testing.

· Experience testing web applications, backend services, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.

· Familiarity with at least one cloud platform such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

· Strong focus on software quality, automation excellence, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

· Test automation experience in a Retail or Omni-Channel commerce environment.

· Experience with enterprise commerce platforms such as:

a. Manhattan OMS

b. Radial OMS

c. Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC)

· Understanding of high availability, always-on production systems and operational best practices.

· Experience working within Agile environments such as Scrum or Extreme Programming (XP).

· Familiarity with development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Rally, or TFS.
