About the Role

We are on the lookout for a talented and innovative Web Software Developer. In this fully remote position, you will play a critical role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining MicrobeTrace, an advanced bioinformatics tool designed for efficient cluster detection and characterization. While primarily remote, occasional on-site work may be required in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

Enhance functionality by integrating new and existing bioinformatics tools and platforms.

Improve user experiences by optimizing current visualizations.

Develop and roll out new features in MicrobeTrace for network and phylogenetic analyses.

Create a web-based version of MicrobeTrace to enhance cluster detection efficiency.

Establish automated testing procedures leveraging open-source tools.

Efficiently maintain and troubleshoot the MicrobeTrace codebase.

Utilize project management tools like ZenHub to monitor development progress.

Boost real-time response capabilities through effective data integration and visualization.

Train team members and partners at various levels on new tools and platforms.

Regularly communicate with clients to update on project statuses and demonstrate progress during meetings.

Collaborate closely with a Bioinformatician to enhance MicrobeTrace functionalities.

Perform additional tasks as required.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience as a web software or full-stack developer.

Advanced proficiency in Angular, TypeScript, and JavaScript is essential.

Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and platforms is a plus.

Experience in web application development similar to MicrobeTrace is highly desired.

Proficient in creating automated testing procedures with open-source tools.

Ability to seamlessly integrate and visualize complex datasets.

Hands-on experience with project management tools such as ZenHub.

Strong analytical decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of technologies such as Azure, CSS, HTML, Tomcat, and Apache is beneficial.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.

A team player capable of collaborative work.

Prior experience working with clients like the CDC or similar US government agencies is advantageous.

Must successfully pass a Federal background screening and obtain necessary government clearance.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required.

Education and Training

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Media, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; extensive relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

Physical Requirements

The ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer, with the capability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
