We are seeking a skilled UNIX Systems Engineer to design, configure, implement, and maintain UNIX hardware and operating system environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), HP-UX, and Solaris. Your role will be crucial in optimizing backup processes, managing disk space allocations, and ensuring system security and high availability solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct Red Hat installation and configuration within cloud service management.
Manage filesystems effectively to ensure optimal performance.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.
Monitor operating systems, hardware, storage, and backup protocols.
Determine recovery times during disaster recovery and production testing, and implement efficiency improvements.
Engineer and implement redundant systems, establish policies for disaster recovery, and ensure data integrity.
Participate in project analysis, including feasibility studies, scopes, timelines, and task lists.
Design and execute UNIX authentication and security audits, providing solutions for discrepancies.
Review real-time trending data, engaging tiered support when necessary.
Maintain regular communication with users and management regarding service call status.
Assess and develop long-term goals for UNIX operating systems in collaboration with data owners.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Design and build complex IT systems infrastructures.
Conduct planning, designing, and evaluation of complex IT tools.
Handle unique user requests for system upgrades requiring in-depth research.
Implement highly complex applications effectively.
Administer and conduct rigorous tests on operating systems and software.
Schedule and monitor system backups, and perform data recovery when necessary.
Conduct root cause analysis on complex production systems.
Identify and implement process improvements with team collaboration.
Engage in planning and designing new platforms, evaluating new technologies.
Conduct cost analysis for proposed platforms and technology upgrades.
Create and maintain comprehensive systems documentation and user guides.
Mentor junior team members by sharing expertise and troubleshooting insights.
Apply scripting techniques to automate routine tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Seven (7) years of systems administration experience with UNIX operating systems like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Solaris, or HP-UX.
Five (5) years of experience in disaster recovery and data replication.
Five (5) years of hands-on troubleshooting, tuning, and patching experience.
Five (5) years of administration, configuration, and troubleshooting experience with UNIX Server Clusters, Load Balancing, and Virtualization.
Security Clearance
Active Secret level clearance required.
Sensitivity Level: IT-I Critical Sensitive.
Certifications:
Category IAT Level II (Security+ or similar). Relevant RHCSA or CompTIA Linux+ certification from a recognized authority.

Compensation for this position varies based on multiple factors, including location, skill set, education, certifications, client specifics, government clearance, and experience. The provided salary range is a guideline and reflects the unique nature of each role within ASM Research.
