About the Team/Role

Join our dynamic Mobility Mobile Engineering team as a Lead Android Developer! In this pivotal role, you'll play a key part in crafting new applications that modernize our existing fleet management portfolio. You'll empower drivers and fleet managers with essential tools for their daily operations. Collaborate alongside a balanced team of native iOS and Android engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality mobile experiences to over 250k users.

How you'll make an impact:

Drive innovation and guide the design, development, testing, and release of mobile applications using cutting-edge Kotlin-first approaches.

Elevate user experience by working closely with product and design teams to create responsive, polished, and accessible interfaces.

Enhance app performance by monitoring production health through crash analytics, performance metrics, and real-world usage insights.

Empower fellow engineers through mentorship, code reviews, pairing sessions, and collaborative design discussions.

Experience you'll bring:

5+ years of professional Android development experience.

Expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Gradle, and dependency injection.

Strong grasp of modern Android architecture patterns and modularization, with skills in designing reusable libraries.

Proficient in working with RESTful APIs and real-time communication, making sound decisions regarding API design.

Experienced in unit, integration, and UI testing, along with advanced debugging practices.

Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and managing Play Store releases.

Demonstrate high trust and ownership while effectively communicating with stakeholders and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in owning and shipping one or more apps to the Google Play Store.

Familiarity with the iOS ecosystem (UIKit, SwiftUI, Concurrency).

Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for shared usability between Android and iOS.

Knowledge of logging and eventing tools (Sentry, PostHog).

Familiarity with device wallet integration (Apple, Google, Android Wallets).

Experience with mobile hardware frameworks (NFC and/or BLE).

Involvement with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code).

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package, which includes health, dental and vision insurances, retirement savings plan, paid time off, health savings account, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and more. Pay Range: $121,500.00 - $145,500.00
