Lead Infrastructure Excellence at a Premier Technological University

NUST is seeking a visionary and experienced professional to serve as Director: Facilities. This leadership role is central to the development, maintenance, and optimisation of the University’s physical infrastructure and operational services across all campuses. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Finance and Operations, the Director will ensure that NUST’s facilities support academic excellence, innovation, and sustainability, in alignment with the University’s strategic goals.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Planning

• Develop and implement long-term facilities strategies aligned with institutional growth and sustainability goals.

• Lead strategic infrastructure planning, including capital projects, renovations, and space optimisation.

Facilities and Infrastructure Management

• Oversee the maintenance and operations of all NUST campuses, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and terrain services.

• Ensure the upkeep, safety, and functionality of classrooms, laboratories, offices, and communal spaces.

Transport and Fleet Oversight

• Manage the University’s vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient scheduling, maintenance, and compliance with transport regulations.

Campus Control and Safety

• Implement robust campus safety protocols, emergency preparedness plans, and security systems.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Space Allocation and Utilisation

• Coordinate the allocation of office and classroom space, ensuring optimal utilisation and alignment with academic needs.

• Lead space planning initiatives, including remodelling and refurbishment projects.

Tenant and Property Management

• Administer rental agreements and manage relationships with tenants occupying NUST property.

• Ensure property use aligns with institutional policies and legal requirements.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

• Promote environmentally responsible practices, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and green building initiatives.

Contractor and Vendor Management

• Oversee procurement and performance of contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications.

Technology and Innovation

• Leverage facilities management software and smart campus technologies to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Budget and Resource Management

• Prepare and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and financial accountability.

• Conduct audits and develop cost-saving initiatives.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to building codes, zoning laws, and statutory regulations.

• Develop contingency plans for emergencies and infrastructure risks.
