What to Expect The Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Tesla Energy Service Engineering function, responsible for the design, documentation, integration, and training of custom service tooling/sustaining hardware and procedures to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla's energy storage solutions, including Megapack, Super Charger and Powerwall products.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual who will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by leading all local service tooling/sustaining mechanical design in the APAC region through problem statement, concept, prototype, pilot to production.

What You'll Do * Own mechanical design, testing, and release of service/installation tooling used in commercial energy applications.
* Utilize engineering principles to create test and rollout plans for designs.
Customize test plans to local regulations in the APAC region (local UL, CE, ROHS compliance release of product included). * Work with local field service and technical support teams to create documentation and training to support field commissioning and service actions and ensure consistent and stable global service operations.
* Capture feedback from the field to inform current/future design of tools; Definition specifications of redesign phase and prioritization of said feature intake.
* Work with vendors to perform DFM/DFA studies to reduce cost and improve performance of service tooling for large volume, particularly for local distribution in APAC.
* Ensure program launch of new product in the APAC region has a certain "TPT" (Tooling, Process, Training) readiness.
What You'll Bring * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Equivalent * Proven experience with mechanical design and drafting.
Equipment or industrial design is a plus * Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentals.
* Ability to solve complex problems using first principles and complete projects under tight timing constraints.
* Experience with 3D CAD, CATIA or Solidworks or FEA is preferred.
* Demonstrated experience building mechanical and electrical systems.
* Comfortable defining requirements, assuring outsourced design, and constructively challenging suppliers and contractors.
* RPEQ / CPEng qualification or eligbility to pursue certification Tesla is an Equal Opportunity employer.
