As a Wound Care Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive wound management. Key responsibilities include:
Treating skin reactions
Preventing skin breakdown
Managing vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers
Initiating preventative measures
Applying topical therapies
Educating patients and their support on care techniques
Assessing and treating draining wounds and fistulae
Designing pouch systems for draining wounds and fistulae
Implementing preventative actions to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers
Providing instruction on proper wound dressing
Educating patients on ulcer prevention and treatment
