Structural Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary

The Structural Engineer plans, develops, and manages projects of varying size and complexity with limited direction. This role supports business growth by delivering responsive service, technical expertise, and value-driven solutions for our client. The position will regularly direct and supervise junior engineers while demonstrating leadership in business development, client service management, and/or technical specialization.Essential Functions

Develop project scopes and budgets with minimal input from others.

Manage scope, budget, and schedule independently across multiple projects or major project tasks.

Lead competitive proposal efforts.

Establish project objectives through proposal review and analysis.

Plan, direct, and review the work of junior engineers while performing advanced engineering tasks such as creative solution development and complex problem solving.

Serve as QA/QC officer.

Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and structural reports for critical engagements requiring advanced judgment and experience.

Collaborate closely with CAD Technicians to complete deliverables.

Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and review work completed by external engineering firms when required.

Resolve complex project and stakeholder issues effectively.

Maintain Professional Development Hours (PDH) required for PE registration.

Support business development through relationship building and participation in meetings.

Assist with development and promotion of new service offerings.

Participate in project and stakeholder meetings.

Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment.

Ensure organized project documentation accessible to team members.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong project management capability across multiple assignments.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, and tools.

Proficiency with CAD and related design, data recording, and analysis software.

Ability to solve complex engineering problems.

Strong analytical and creative thinking skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.Work Environment and Physical Demands

Overtime may be required based on workload demands, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Role requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, climbing, speaking, hearing, and manual dexterity.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Periodic travel to offices or construction sites may be required.

Due to the collaborative nature of the role, work is expected to be performed in an office environment during standard business hours.

Position operates primarily within a professional office setting.Supervisory Responsibilities
