Job Title: SAP IT Engineer – Senior
Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid – Onsite Tuesday through Thursday)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Rate: $60 - $70/hr
Salary (Conversion): $113,000 – $170,000 annually
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future. Sponsorship is not available for this role, including but not limited to H-1B, F-1 (CPT/OPT), TN, L-1, J-1, E-2, or any other employment-based visa.
On-Call: Required for major incidents
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP IT Engineer to serve as the service owner accountable for the overall service level of SAP. This role is responsible for leading SAP operations, reducing incident rates, ensuring audit and regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the SAP landscape. The ideal candidate brings deep SAP technical expertise across multiple modules, strong ITIL knowledge, and the ability to lead developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, outsourced IT environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
7+ years of experience as an SAP Engineer
3–5 years of hands-on SAP experience across one or more of the following modules: MM, PM, FI/CO, Basis, GRC, ABAP
1+ years of experience in project management
Strong knowledge of ITIL support practices including Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Release Management
Familiarity with ServiceNow for IT service management
Ability to work effectively in an outsourced IT environment
Experience with and knowledge of legacy and new computing architectures
Experience managing technology costs, including license management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Availability for on-call support during major incidents
Preferred Qualifications
SAP certification in one or more modules (MM, PM, FI/CO, Basis, GRC, or ABAP)
ITIL Foundation certification or higher
Experience in the utilities or energy industry
Experience with SAP S/4HANA migration or implementation
PMP or similar project management certification
Experience contributing to technology roadmap development
Key Responsibilities
SAP Service Ownership & Operations
Serve as the service owner accountable for the overall service level of SAP
Lead other developers to reduce incident rates and improve system stability
Review and improve the quality of changes deployed to production environments
Identify defects and work with Product Owners to prioritize remediation
Compliance & Audit
Work with audit teams to ensure compliance with control tests and regulatory requirements
Manage SAP licenses to ensure compliance and drive cost reduction
Ensure alignment with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Organize and maintain comprehensive SAP documentation
Prepare and deliver status reports, risk assessments, and issue summaries for leadership
Stakeholder Communication & Strategy
Provide recommendations for consideration in developing the Technology roadmap
Communicate risks, issues, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project planning and execution
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve SAP operations and support workflows
Support implementation of process improvements and best practices across the SAP landscape
