Job Title
Gifted Education Teacher (Grades K 12 or Assigned Levels)

Job Summary
The Gifted Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating differentiated instruction designed to meet the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of identified gifted students. The teacher will implement the district's gifted education program in compliance with Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) regulations and collaborate with staff, parents, and administrators to ensure high-quality gifted services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct instructional services to identified gifted students in accordance with the district's Gifted Education Program Plan
Develop and implement enrichment and acceleration opportunities aligned with Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards (MCCRS)
Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessment to address advanced learning needs
Support the development of critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and independent learning skills
Participate in the identification, referral, and placement process for gifted students, as required
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance reports as required by MDE
Collaborate with general education teachers to support appropriate instructional strategies for gifted learners
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program goals
Participate in professional development related to gifted education
Serve on school or district committees related to gifted services, as assigned
Uphold district policies, state regulations, and professional ethical standards
Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Mississippi Educator License
Knowledge of gifted education principles, differentiation strategies, and curriculum design
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

Primary Endorsement
Gifted Education (K 12)
Endorsement Code: 106
This endorsement authorizes the teacher to provide gifted education services to eligible students in grades K 12.
Licensure Requirements
Standard Educator License (Class A or AA) with Gifted Education (K 12) endorsement, OR
Educator actively enrolled in an MDE-approved gifted endorsement program (per district and MDE compliance guidelines)
Note: Mississippi requires teachers providing gifted instruction to hold (or be actively pursuing) the Gifted Education endorsement in accordance with MDE Gifted Education Regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field
Prior experience teaching or serving gifted students
Training in enrichment models, acceleration strategies, or project-based learning
Experience with compliance documentation and state program monitoring
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move between classrooms or campuses as assigned
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to work in a classroom or pull-out instructional setting for extended periods
