Why This Accountant Position?
CFS has partnered with a stable quasi-municipal organization in New Haven to identify an Accountant to join their growing finance team. This organization is known for its excellent benefits, collaborative culture, and extremely low turnover.
The accounting team works closely together in a supportive environment, and this role will report directly to both the Director of Finance and Deputy Director, providing strong visibility and exposure to leadership.
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 + excellent benefits
Key Responsibilities of the Accountant
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger activity
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations
• Support budget analysis and financial variance reviews
• Track and analyze revenue activity and financial data
• Prepare audit schedules and assist with external audits
• Compile financial reports and support leadership with financial insights
• Ensure accuracy and integrity across financial records and reporting
Preferred Qualifications of the Accountant
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Municipal or nonprofit accounting experience is a plus
• Experience with Munis or Tyler Technologies is highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
