TITLE: K-12 TEACHING AND LEARNING COACH JOB STATUS: FLSA EXEMPT REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL in partnership with Teaching & Learning Administrators DEPARTMENT: ACADEMICS AND STUDENT LEARNING POSITION SUMMARY: The K-12 Teaching and Learning Coach serves as part of building and district teacher leadership and is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers with the goal of increasing student learning and engagement with technology integration, improving student growth and achievement, and building teacher efficacy.
These goals are achieved through close partnership with teachers while observing students and instruction, modeling in classrooms, and considering relevant data to best support the learning needs of all students.
Coaches connect teachers with resources, research and emerging trends as they match the needs of students and staff with the appropriate support offered within DCS.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: ? Valid Ohio Teaching Certification/License ? Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience or other professional development or training experience.
? Large and small group public speaking and presentation skills.
? Instructional expertise in using data and Ohio's Learning Standards to guide instruction.
? Ability to adapt technology materials to all content areas and grade levels.
? Ability to use and analyze multiple data points to support teachers in effort to maximize student learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: ? Models classroom instruction that integrates best practices in instruction, including utilizing the tools of technology into the approved Graded Courses of Study as well as into everyday teaching and lesson planning.
? Partners with administrators and teachers in the acquisition and presentation of data related to student growth and performance.
? Participates in professional learning to further their skills and knowledge, and keeps current on researched based instructional strategies and best practices with an emphasis in student engagement and learning.
? Promotes the use of high leverage instructional strategies, including appropriate technology instructional tools in all academic areas, while collecting evidence of successful technology integration.
? Utilizes emerging instructional technology to enhance student learning.
? Provides job-embedded and group professional development opportunities throughout the year.
? Participates as requested as a member of curriculum review committees, and attends meetings associated with resource adoptions.
? Collaborates with teachers to provide guidance, training, and mentoring as needed to promote both academic and professional growth goals with an emphasis on literacy/numeracy.
? Supports district initiatives in the areas of differentiation, workshop, and student choice.
? Ensures the safety of students.
? Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
? Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
? Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
? Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
? Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
? Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
? Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
