Position Summary:
The Classroom Assistant Floater will work in collaboration with the Center Team to ensure preschool classrooms provide an educational environment that is developmentally and linguistically appropriate and accommodates children’s individual rates of development as well as individual interests, temperaments, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. Ensure that the team works in accordance with the service delivery plans, ECEAP Performance Standards, USDA requirements, state licensing requirements and agency policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
Report to assigned classroom for daily duties.
Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time.
Work as a team member to meet the needs of the children classroom and site as a whole.
Daily duties may change based upon site needs. This may include covering in the following areas classroom, bus, food service area etc.
Assist the team in the following duties;
Provide supervision, care, and support for children in the classroom.
Implementing classroom activities and preparation of materials and supplies.
Administering developmental assessments and for all children.
Implement, support, and promote policies and procedures for Child Abuse and Neglect, Child Guidance and Active Supervision.
Conduct child observations and input data as assigned.
Use practices that value cultural backgrounds, special needs, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Preparing food cart for timely delivery to each classroom.
Put food in serving dishes according to Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) portion size; provide dishware, utensils and serving items (napkins etc.) on the food cart.
Provide the classroom with appropriate items for food disposal and rinsing of dishes.
Assist with taking carts from classrooms after meals/snacks and prepare dishes for dishwasher. Run and empty dishwasher to maintain a supply of dishware and utensils needed, at a minimum, for next meal/snack.
Maintain accurate records and accurate documentation as required.
Maintain a safe, healthy and sanitary environment ensuring that children are supervised at all times; Respond quickly to crisis or emergency situations that may occur; provide first aid, CPR, and access Emergency services as needed.
Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers/sites, playgrounds, buses and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPICs culture of “Speak Up, Speak Out”.
Actively participate in professional development/coaching to improve student learning and performance.
Actively participate in family nights, parent meetings, staff meetings, professional development opportunities and all relevant center activities.
Actively engage in coaching sessions by; being open to apply and analyze new teaching practices with the support of the ECEAP Coach.
Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:
Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
Current Food Handlers card (obtain the training within 30 days of employment).
Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within thirty 30 days of employment).
Complete Childcare Basics 30 hours STARS training within 3 months of hire
Meet the minimum education requirements within the timeframe as stated in the performance standards.
Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
CEO Approval.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
HS/GED Required.
One year classroom work experience with preschool children
Valid Food Handlers Card
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
Bloodborne Pathogens Training
Childcare Basics Training
Current training certificates by the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF)Training Portal
Washington State ECE Initial Certificate or Preschool Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA).
* Candidates who do not meet the minimum education requirement must meet this requirement within five (5) years of hire date and will be placed on a Professional Development Plan.
