Job Description
Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC near Myrtle Beach, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Manufacturing Production Manager to join our dynamic manufacturing team.
In this role, you will supervise the machinist team (about 25 operators and 2 leads) and actively operate, set up, and maintain CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision parts and components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential in ensuring high-quality output that meets strict specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines, while contributing to innovative manufacturing processes. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about precision machining, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities

Process payroll, conduct training, issue coaching and disciplinary action, conduct performance reviews.
Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, primarily using Fanuc controls, to produce complex parts with precision and efficiency.
Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and write or modify CNC code based on engineering drawings and specifications.
Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and engineering documentation to ensure accurate production.
Set up machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and calibration devices such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure optimal operation; troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Use precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, height gauges, and laser measurement tools to verify part dimensions during production.
Apply electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques when necessary for complex or hard materials requiring specialized cutting methods.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying waste reduction opportunities and optimizing machining processes for efficiency.
Assist with assembly tasks when required, utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and plastics injection molding techniques.
