A dedicated aide position is available in an educational setting located at Naval Anacost Annex, DC. This role requires strong skills as a paraprofessional with a particular focus on American Sign Language (ASL) experience to support students effectively.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students with varying special education needs, including those with autism and severe behavioral or academic challenges.
Utilize ASL skills to facilitate communication and learning for hearing-impaired students.
Collaborate with educators and staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
Assist with classroom management and ensure a supportive learning environment.
Monitor student progress and adapt assistance based on individual needs.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Successfully passed the ParaPro Exam.
Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
Certification in ASL interpretation or demonstrated equivalent proficiency.
Experience working in special education, particularly with individuals with autism or severe behavioral and academic challenges, is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to support diverse learners.
Schedule and Location:
Full-time contract position.
Working hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
