Starting Pay $23.60 per hour

The Custodian position performs routine custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, and building maintenance duties for the light department. Operates various cleaning & maintenance equipment, (i.e., buffer, power scrubber, weed trimmer, lawn mower, hedge trimmer, vacuum cleaner, snow blower and other related equipment).

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge in the proper methods for maintaining clean and neat work environments.

Experience: Three to six months prior experience related to custodial care, housekeeping or building care in a commercial or industrial setting.

License & Certification: A valid vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with City Policy.

Essential Functions: Examples of duties may include but are not limited to: Following and maintaining structured cleaning schedule for the office building; Perform all duties in a safe, orderly, and sanitary work manner; Performs all floor care duties as necessary which include: wet and dry mopping; scrubbing; vacuuming; buffing; waxing & stripping floors; and operating floor scrubber; Performs office and building cleaning duties which include: emptying trash cans & recycling containers; dusting; cleaning blinds; washing windows; replacing light bulbs & tubes; and general cleaning of office furniture & equipment, restrooms & other building areas.
