About the Role
SCS Global Services Europe is seeking experienced freelance auditors qualified to conduct Textile Exchange audits to support certification services across Europe and neighboring regions.
Contract auditors will conduct third-party audits against Textile Exchange standards, primarily focused on recycled content and supply chain traceability within textile and related manufacturing sectors. These audits are conducted within accredited certification systems and follow established scheme requirements and SCS procedures.
Assignments may include on-site and remote audits of manufacturers, processors, recyclers, traders, and other supply chain actors. Auditors will be responsible for performing audits and preparing audit documentation; technical review responsibilities are handled internally by SCS technical staff.
Relevant Standards / Schemes
Auditors must already be qualified to audit one or more of the following Textile Exchange standards:
Content Claim Standard (CCS)
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
Recycled Claim Standard (RCS)
Material Matter Standard (MMS)

Description
Conduct on-site and remote audits against Textile Exchange standards in accordance with scheme rules and SCS procedures
Evaluate supply chain traceability, recycled content claims, and relevant production processes
Collect objective evidence and assess compliance with applicable program requirements
Prepare accurate and timely audit reports and supporting documentation
Communicate professionally with SCS program staff and client representatives
Support the documentation and closure of audit findings and corrective actions
Maintain auditor competence and stay current with Textile Exchange program requirements
Mandatory Auditor Qualification – Textile Exchange
Candidates must be already approved and qualified by Textile Exchange to conduct audits for one or more Textile Exchange standards.
This includes:
Active qualification for GRS, RCS, CCS, or MMS audits
Demonstrated experience conducting Textile Exchange audits within accredited certification systems
Familiarity with Textile Exchange audit procedures, certification processes, and reporting expectations
Candidates who are not already approved Textile Exchange auditors will not be considered for this role.
Sector Experience (Required)
Auditors must demonstrate relevant professional experience within industries associated with Textile Exchange standards, including:
Textile and apparel manufacturing
Textile processing or finishing
Recycling operations (textile, plastics, or related materials)
Supply chain traceability systems
Manufacturing sectors using recycled materials
Preferred Cross-Over Experience (Not Required)
The following experience is strongly valued and may enable additional audit opportunities:
Recycled Materials & Circular Economy
Experience auditing or verifying recycled materials and recycled content claims
Familiarity with mass balance systems, material traceability, or chain-of-custody style verification
ISO Management Systems (IMS)
Qualification or experience auditing management systems such as:
ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems)
ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems)
Additional Requirements
Professional fluency in English
Additional European languages are advantageous (e.g., German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish)
Ability and willingness to travel within Europe
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines independently
Comfortable conducting both on-site and desk-based audits
