Position Summary
As a Senior Category Procurement Leader, you will be pivotal in refining our sourcing strategies within one of the largest gas and electric utilities in the nation. Your expertise will enhance cost efficiency, supplier performance, and risk management. You will spearhead category planning, negotiations, and contract management, driving value and sustainability across our supply chain. By collaborating with key stakeholders and utilizing market insights, you will forge category strategies that align with our business goals and regulatory standards.
Location: This position is hybrid, offering flexibility to work from your remote office and your assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory based on business needs. Our preferred location is Oakland, CA, though other locations may be considered.
Salary Information: PG&E provides a competitive salary range for this role, which may depend on various factors including skills, experience, and geographic location. The pay range is between $126,000 to $179,000 for the Bay Area. The actual salary will be confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned categories.
Develop and implement effective category plans that optimize costs, mitigate risks, and ensure continuous supply.
Lead competitive bidding processes and negotiations to achieve favorable agreements.
Draft and manage contracts ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, focusing on performance reviews and collaborative improvements.
Influence cross-functional teams to shape sourcing and negotiation strategies for medium complexity categories.
Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions to inform strategic sourcing initiatives.
Conduct market research and supplier risk assessments to ensure financial stability of suppliers.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
6 years of sourcing experience.
Desired:
8 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in utility or energy sectors.
Proficiency in sourcing within Consulting/Professional Services, Construction, or Materials.
Experience leading high-value negotiations and developing effective contract structures.
Strong analytical skills, with expertise in spend analytics and digital procurement tools.
Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
History of developing strategic supplier partnerships and managing performance metrics.
Capability to engage senior management to align procurement strategies with business aims.
Experience in leading diverse teams to achieve shared objectives.
Project management proficiency and familiarity with project management methodologies.
Knowledge of procurement systems like ARIBA or SAP.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
ISM CPSM certification or equivalent certifications.
