Berkshire Search Partners is partnering with an innovative communications technology organization to identify an Applications Engineer II. This role is ideal for an experienced Field Applications or Systems Engineer who thrives in customer-facing environments and enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
In this position, you will serve as a technical resource supporting Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Quality Assurance teams, while working directly with customers to commission systems, provide training, troubleshoot issues, and demonstrate solutions.
Customers span industries where reliable, real-time communication is mission-critical, including broadcast, live events, theaters, sports venues, and government environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide second-level technical support across multiple communication channels.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues by identifying root causes and developing solutions.
Commission communication systems at customer sites and ensure successful implementation of workflows.
Conduct product demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing both remotely and onsite.
Assist with equipment lists, technical quotes, and pre-sale system drawings.
Deliver product training and technical education for customers and partners.
Document technical issues through internal QA processes and contribute solutions to knowledge bases and FAQs.
Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, product development, marketing, and service.
Support new product development efforts by providing technical feedback and field insights.
Create application notes and technical documentation to support system deployments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Audio Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in field applications engineering, systems engineering, or technical support.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of IP networking, professional audio systems, and communications technologies.
Experience working with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, distortion analyzers, and audio measurement tools.
Understanding of circuits, schematics, and technical specifications.
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Willingness to travel 40–60%.
Preferred Qualifications
Active U.S. Security Clearance (preferred, not required).
Familiarity with 2-way radio systems, military communications, VoIP/AoIP technologies, or telecommunications infrastructure.
Experience with E1/T1 lines, telephone systems, and network-based audio solutions.
CCNA certification or equivalent networking training.
Experience using CAD, Visio, or other system design tools.
Programming or scripting experience is a plus.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $100,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
