Job Description

The Sr. Director of EHS (Integration & Continuous Improvement) will be responsible for leading the integration of newly acquired companies into the organization's Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) and driving enterprise-wide continuous improvement in EHS performance. This role ensures acquired operations are aligned with corporate EHS policies, standards, systems, and cultural expectations while supporting safe, compliant, and sustainable growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Acquisition Integration & EHSMS Alignment

Lead EHS integration activities from due diligence through post-close stabilization.

Assess acquired entities against corporate EHSMS requirements and identify gaps and risks.

Develop and execute structured EHS integration plans and timelines.

Ensure alignment with corporate EHS policies, procedures, training, and reporting systems.

Partner with Legal, HR, Operations, M&A, and Integration teams to manage EHS risks during integration.

Continuous Improvement & System Effectiveness

Drive continuous improvement of the EHSMS using data, audits, and lessons learned.

Standardize best practices identified during integrations.

Apply root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies.

Ensure corrective actions are sustainable and embedded in operations.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

Evaluate high-risk activities and legacy practices within acquired companies.

Prioritize and implement mitigation strategies for safety, environmental, and regulatory risks.

Support incident investigations at newly acquired locations.

Governance, Performance & Accountability

Establish governance structures to track integration progress.

Define and monitor KPIs related to EHS integration and system effectiveness.

Provide executive reporting on integration status and risk exposure.

Support internal and external audits related to acquired operations.

Change Management & Culture Integration

Lead change management efforts within acquired companies.

Reinforce safety culture and accountability post-acquisition.

Communicate EHS expectations clearly during periods of organizational change.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Time to full alignment with corporate EHSMS following acquisition.

Percentage of acquired locations meeting audit standards.

Reduction in high-risk gaps post-integration.

Closure rate of corrective actions.

Improvement in leading safety indicators.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related field.

Master's degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including leadership roles in multi-site environments.

Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are encouraged.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and industry best practices.

Demonstrated experience integrating acquired companies into an EHSMS.

Experience working in a matrix organization and managing cross-functional initiatives.

Ability to communicate clearly across all levels - from executives to the frontline.

Builds a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.

Navigates complex reporting structures with diplomacy and clarity.

Manages conflict and resistance with empathy and professionalism.

Responds effectively to changing regulations, operational demands, and field conditions.

Salary Range: $192K - $210K + Bonus
