Math Teacher in Washington Navy Yard, DC

A middle school environment in Washington Navy Yard, DC, is seeking a dedicated General Education Math Teacher to join their team on a contract basis. This position emphasizes delivering engaging, high-level math instruction within an International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, supporting a multilingual and multicultural student body. The ideal candidate will combine deep content knowledge with strong instructional design and classroom management skills to foster student growth and global awareness.

Responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering IB-aligned math lessons that challenge and inspire middle school learners

Applying culturally responsive teaching strategies in a diverse classroom setting

Serving as a student advisor to support both academic progress and personal development

Managing a structured, rigorous classroom environment to maximize student achievement

Integrating technology effectively, especially within a 1:1 Chromebook program and Google Workspace

Collaborating with colleagues across departments and participating in professional development activities

Communicating regularly with families, students, and school staff

Supporting immersion programs related to French, Spanish, or Chinese cultures

Performing additional duties as assigned by the school administration

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Math, Education, or a related field required

Master's degree in Secondary Education or Math preferred

Previous experience teaching middle school math and familiarity with the IB curriculum strongly preferred

Proficiency with Google Workspace and educational technology platforms

Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
