Sign Language Interpreter Opportunity - Decatur, AL (Contract)

A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within a school setting in Decatur, AL. This role involves working closely with students, educators, and staff to facilitate effective communication through American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.

Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment by bridging communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals.

Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure accessibility and comprehension for all students.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Participate in contract development processes as required.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting skills.

Previous experience interpreting in educational environments preferred.

Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication needs.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
