Senior Building Envelope Engineer

Location: Sarasota, FL

A growing engineering consulting firm specializing in building envelope and restoration projects is seeking a senior-level engineer to join its team in Sarasota, FL. This is a role for an experienced professional with 5–10 years of experience in building envelope consulting, restoration engineering, or related construction engineering disciplines.

The position combines technical leadership, project oversight, and client engagement, with responsibility for supporting engineering teams while helping grow the firm’s local presence. The role includes a mix of field investigations, engineering analysis, mentoring junior staff, and business development activities.

This position is primarily office and field-based and requires the ability to interact directly with clients and support project teams on active assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead building envelope inspections and site assessments, including roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall systems.

Prepare and review technical reports, evaluations, and restoration project documentation.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project staff.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout project delivery.

Support business development efforts, including client meetings and proposal development.

Help grow the local office and client relationships through industry engagement and networking.

Qualifications

Required

5–10 years of professional experience in building envelope consulting, restoration engineering, construction consulting, or related engineering fields.

Strong understanding of building enclosure systems, including roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall assemblies.

Experience conducting building inspections, technical assessments, and report writing.

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact directly with clients and project stakeholders.

Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Ability to work in the office and perform regular site visits.

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or eligibility for licensure.

Certifications related to building envelope consulting, roofing, or enclosure systems (e.g., Registered Roof Consultant, Registered Building Envelope Consultant).

Experience with construction administration and restoration project design.

Familiarity with CAD software and engineering documentation preparation.
