Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking an IT Infrastructure Automation & Innovation Engineer to drive automation, optimization, and innovation across infrastructure and end user services.

This role focuses on reducing manual effort, improving service efficiency, and enabling scalable operations through automation, orchestration, self-service enablement, and emerging technologies. The Automation & Innovation Lead will define enterprise automation strategy, standardize frameworks, and deliver measurable operational improvements across global IT domains.

This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's HQ location in Westerville, OH.

Responsibilities:

Define the enterprise automation strategy across infrastructure and service domains.

Identify and prioritize automation opportunities aligned with operational efficiency and business impact.

Assist in governing automation standards, tooling, integration models, and architectural alignment.

Embed automation, orchestration, and self-service capabilities into core service delivery processes.

Track and report measurable benefits across efficiency, service quality, and cycle time reduction.

Assess infrastructure and service workflows to identify automation and optimization opportunities.

Design and implement scalable automation solutions across hosting, network, service desk, and core services.

Integrate automation capabilities with ServiceNow workflows and orchestration models.

Standardize reusable automation patterns, scripts, and deployment frameworks.

Ensure automation initiatives align with security, compliance, and enterprise architecture standards.

Reduce operational complexity by eliminating manual handoffs and repetitive tasks.

Pilot emerging tools and technologies to enhance service efficiency, observability, and scalability.

Measure and report automation impact, including reduction in manual effort and improved service performance metrics.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

A global enterprise-wide automation framework spanning infrastructure and service domains

Standardized orchestration and workflow integration across ITSM and platform services

Scalable self-service enablement reducing dependency on manual fulfillment

Embedded automation governance aligned with security and architectural controls

Reusable automation design patterns and deployment standards

A measurable operational efficiency and cycle-time reduction model

Integrated observability and performance tracking across automated workflows

Continuous improvement discipline embedded into service delivery processes

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

4 plus years of experience in infrastructure automation, DevOps, platform engineering, or IT service transformation

Strong experience with orchestration tools, scripting (python, Jenkins, etc.), and automation platforms

Experience integrating automation with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred)

Proven success delivering measurable operational efficiency improvements

Strong understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and architecture alignment

Experience leading cross-functional automation initiatives across global teams

Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and executive communication skills

Ability to travel up to 20%
