We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at one site.
As Manufacturing engineer on this campus, you will play a crucial role in improving production efficiencies, reducing costs, and enhancing overall manufacturing processes.
Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment.
Reporting into the Campus Manufacturing engineering manager, this position is also responsible for coordinating projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to optimize manufacturing operations through new or improved workplace processes, methods, and layouts.
This role requires expertise in statistical analysis, Lean, EHS considerations, CI, including the ability to conduct overall line balancing, develop business cases, create visual factory displays, and make improvement recommendations.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: Data Analysis and Recommendations\nAnalyze reports and data to determine and recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to more fully utilize the workforce and increase productivity, quality, and/or product value\nPerform detailed statistical analyses, creating logical summaries concerning plant performance and facility layout\nCommunicate manufacturing metrics (working capital, Raw/WIP/FGI inventory, inventory turns, productivity, efficiency, order fill rate, on-time delivery) in an understandable way\nConduct time studies to gather data to develop accurate rates, analyze line balancing, and provide cost estimates\nCollaborate closely with plant management to understand production goals, providing technical guidance and statistical data to assist with decision making (cost standards, variance analysis, budgetary controls, and product cost estimates for new or improved products)\nDetermine machine and workforce requirements for production, making recommendations to plant management for annual business plans and forecasts\nCraft capital appropriation requests with supporting EVA calculations\nDesign and Technical Expertise\nParticipate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems\nProvide technical expertise to production supervisors and management on methods, time studies, production standards, and workforce practices to maximize efficiency\nInvestigate current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve production efficiencies and reduce costs\nCollaborating closely with plant management, determine feasibility of proposed projects, providing information for accurate decision making\nDesign and implement machine/assembly cells and factory layout\nEnsure compliance with relevant safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all\n3.
Project Management: Coordinate and manage projects related to process improvement, from initial planning stages to successful completion\nWorking in cross functional teams (production, quality, maintenance), ensure seamless integration of process improvements\nMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes, making adjustments as necessary\nLead teams and give direction to production employees\nStay updated on industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology, proactively recommending relevant improvements\nOther projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization\nWhat we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: Required Experience & Skills At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role\nProven experience designing and implementing machine/assembly cells and factory layouts\nUnderstanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, material transactions/movement within plant\nUnderstanding of the process of engineering revisions, change notices, deviations, and impact on manufacturing\nProven knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma\nStrong mathematical ability to explain statistical analysis in simplified, business terms\nProficiency conducting time studies, data analysis, and cost estimation\nStrong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and effectively implement changes\nExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-function teams at all levels (production to management) and present data and recommendations verbally and in written form to management\nProven experience with one piece flow (balancing, pacing, improved through-put) and visual factory (KPIs, pacing boards, EI)\nFamiliarity with project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously\nProficiency in software tools such as CAD and statistical analyses software\nStrong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports\nIdeal Experience & Skills 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role\nKnowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes related to HVAC and heating systems\nExperience with design for manufacturing methods\nFamiliarity with supply chain\nFamiliarity with MRP planning and production scheduling techniques\nExperience with JD Edwards\nEducation & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering preferred\nSix Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred\nTravel & Working Environment Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located, QC Canada or other SPX locations such as Charlotte, NC or Overland, KS.\nManufacturing plant environment\nHow we live our cultureOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
