Job Title:Commercial Insurance Program Manager Department:Business and Finance Risk Management The Office of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a multipurpose office based on the central campus in Columbus, Ohio.

We support the research and academic mission of the university and medical center by managing risk, procuring and administering insurance, enhancing organizational resilience, and mitigating loss.

It is our mission in ERM to advise and be a valued partner and current resource by creating innovative risk management solutions, delivering quality service and recommendations to address established and emerging risk, assisting in loss prevention and minimization, administering a robust insurance portfolio, enhancing organizational resilience and capabilities for resumption of operations, and providing proactive management and identification of risk and mitigation opportunities.

The ERM staff is comprised of knowledgeable, dedicated, and skilled professionals.

We are here to serve the risk management, insurance, and business continuity management needs of the Ohio State community.

The Commercial Insurance Program Manager independently manages and administers large complex portions of the university's commercial insurance program.

Consults with various university, affiliates, and third parties regarding coverage and exposure.

Analyzes policy language, recommends appropriate levels of coverage limits, scope of policy provisions and is a primary contact with internal customers and external brokers/carriers for day-to-day operations.

Coordinates procurement of policies, which includes leading the gathering of data, determining efficient use of funds, developing schemes to improve coverage, find gaps, and/or acquire less expensive coverage.

Performs daily internal administration of insurance programs.

Initiates and produces financial analysis to support the university's retention of risk levels and risk profile of Great River Insurance, LLC, the university's captive insurer.

In collaboration with others, develops and implements policies and procedures to achieve departmental/organizational goals.

Is a proactive participant in assisting in the development of operational Risk Management strategy.

Contributes to claims management, coordination, and resolution strategies.

In addition, this individual reviews and coordinates contracts in a timely manner, including identifying legal concerns and other risk exposures, reducing risk, and providing advice as appropriate; adapting contract templates and existing agreements, and working collaboratively to negotiate and coordinate necessary revisions and modifications with college stakeholders and external parties.

Assists with loss control and claims when needed.

Maintains familiarity with insurance markets.

Collects, analyzes, and disseminates insurance data identifying trends, patterns, and costs.

Provides support to the enterprise risk management program.

Participates in projects to increase efficiencies, enhance university resilience, and reduce costs.

Performs other risk management and insurance responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, insurance, or a related field and six (6) years of insurance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proven track record of progressively responsible positions; experience in insurance program planning and administration; proficiency in insurance contract language, negotiations, problem solving, creativity, and program management; knowledge of analytical tools/methodologies; experience conducting and utilizing mathematical research methods; ability to statistically analyze and interpret data; effective written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to work independently, meet project deadlines and to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.

Desired Qualifications: Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of commercial insurance program administration experience at a large, complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; extensive knowledge of insurance contract language and experience negotiating favorable pricing, terms and conditions; expertise utilizing analytical tools/methodologies and mathematical research methods to analyze and interpret data; executive level communication proficiency, both written and verbal.

ARM, CPCU, CIC, or CRM designations preferred.

Function: Finance Sub-function: Insurance Risk Career Band: Individual Contributor-Specialized Career Level: S4 Consultant Additional Information: The Target Hiring Range for this position is $88,300 to $115,350 per year.
