Job Description Description: SUMMARY OF POSITION The Fleet Maintenance Technician is a key role within the Boyle Transportation organization, holding responsibility for preventive maintenance, diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical issues on various vehicles and equipment, maintains records, manages parts inventory, and ensures compliance with all safety regulations.
Technicians in Ohio will report to the Shop Manager, while those in Massachusetts and Indiana will report to the Vice President of Maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities:Perform routine maintenance on trucks, to prevent major breakdownsUse different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists and jacks, etc.
to repair trucks as neededDiagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devices such as motor analyzers, handheld computers, and chassis chartsMaintaining detailed records of maintenance history, repairs, inspections, and parts inventoryMonitoring, ordering, and managing the stock of necessary parts, supplies, and tools.
Adhering to safety regulations, understanding hazards, and following proper safety procedures in the workshop and on the road.
Measure vehicle emissions to ensure they are in the proper limitsEnsure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensionsAbility to move a tractor and trailer around the yardPerforms other duties as assigned Staff located at the Canal Winchester Terminal will also be responsible for the following duties.Install, set up, test, and repair mechanical and electromechanical equipment, and fix problems when equipment is not working correctly.
Maintain tools, instruments, and test equipment by performing routine maintenance, calibrations, and tracking due dates to keep everything accurate and reliable.
Set up and run equipment tests, perform alarm checks, and help review equipment issues to keep operations running smoothly.
Follow company procedures and safety rules at all times and complete other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements: Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:High school diploma or equivalentDiesel Mechanic (ASE) Certification, preferredCommercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferredValid driver’s license with satisfactory MVRMust be able to complete a satisfactory Criminal Background Check3+ years of experience as a diesel technicianExperience with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems, and diagnostics experiences, preferredProficiency with navigating diagnostic tools and computersAbility to effectively manage competing prioritiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailHigh level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential informationExcellent PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not have any direct reports Physical Requirements:Involves standing, climbing, lifting, bending, kneeling, and working in elevated positionsMust be able to work in environments with varying temperature, humidity, and other environmental factorsMust be able to lift 50 pounds Pay:$32-$38/hour based on skills/experience; some overtime Schedule:Full Time - 40 hours / weekDay shift - must be available to work Saturdays EEO and Reasonable Accommodations: Boyle is an equal employment opportunity employer.
