Job Title: 3rd Shift Extrusion Machine Operator

Department: Production / Manufacturing

Reports To: Shift Supervisor / Production Manager

Position Summary:

The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion equipment to produce high-quality products that meet specifications. This position requires technical skill, attention to detail, and experience with precision measuring tools. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, adaptable, dependable, and maintains a positive attitude while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Set up and operate extrusion machines in accordance with job specifications.

Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout production runs.

Use tape measures, calipers, and snap gauges to verify product dimensions and tolerances.

Adjust machine settings such as temperature, pressure, and speed to ensure consistent output.

Load raw materials and maintain proper feed during operations.

Perform quality checks and record production data accurately.

Assist with changeovers, cleanouts, and routine maintenance.

Report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns promptly.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Adapt quickly to changes in production needs, tasks, or priorities.

Demonstrate a positive attitude and support team members as needed.

Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1–2 years of experience in extrusion or machine operation preferred.

Proficient in using tape measures, calipers, and snap gauges.

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.

Physically able to lift up to 25-50 lbs. hourly, stand, and move throughout the shift.

Reliable, flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently.

Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and machinery.

Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks for extended periods.

PPE required at all times.

May include overtime, rotating shifts, and weekend work as production demands.
