Lead Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Engineer to support an organization within the insurance and annuities industry.

The Lead Engineer role is ideal for a strong full stack developer with deep experience in Node.js, AWS, and React, and a background supporting internal IT and business groups.

Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer: * Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Node.js, AWS services, and React.

* Serve as a technical lead on key initiatives, providing architectural guidance and hands on development.

* Collaborate closely with internal IT teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

* Ensure best practices in code quality, cloud infrastructure, and application performance.

* Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and guide junior engineers as needed.

Qualifications of the Lead Engineer: * 5-8 years of full stack engineering experience.

* Strong proficiency with Node.js, React, and AWS cloud services.

* Experience supporting internal, enterprise level IT and business groups.

* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps practices, and cloud native architectures.

* Ability to work in a hybrid setting and collaborate effectively in both onsite and remote environments.

Compensation for the Lead Engineer includes: * Salary range: $115,000 - $130,000 depending on experience * Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO * Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite weekly in Durham, NC This job opens for applications on 2/26/2026.
