Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinics provide evidence-based therapy services to children with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental conditions. The industry is:

As the clinic scales, custom software, automation, and system integrations become critical to improving therapist productivity, accelerating cash flow, and protecting data integrity.
Position Summary
The Lead Software Developer is accountable for designing, building, integrating, and maintaining secure, scalable software systems that improve clinical workflows, automate operational processes, and support revenue cycle efficiency.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for architecture decisions, coding standards, and delivery execution. The role ensures technology initiatives align with the company’s One-Page Strategic Plan and quarterly Rocks (Scaling Up framework).
Key Performance Indicators
Maintain at least 99.5% uptime for internally developed applications measured quarterly and resolve 95% of high-priority software defects within 5 business days of identification.
Deliver and deploy automation tools that reduce therapist documentation time by 20% within 12 months and implement system integrations that reduce duplicate data entry by 30% within 9 months.
Deploy software enhancements that reduce billing-related data errors by 15% within 12 months and achieve at least a 90% on-time, within-scope completion rate for all approved quarterly development Rocks.
Core Responsibilities
Design and develop secure, scalable applications and internal tools while writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and establishing coding standards and technical best practices.
Build and maintain integrations with ABA EMR systems such as Passage health and as well as HR systems, and analytics tools, leveraging APIs to streamline data flow and reduce manual processes.
Develop automation solutions and build the product to improve scheduling, documentation, reporting, and revenue cycle processes, while identifying operational bottlenecks and proactively building scalable technical solutions.
Create dashboards and reporting applications that track key metrics including utilization, billing lag, authorization status, and clinical outcomes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across systems.
Build software that meets HIPAA security standards by implementing encryption, secure authentication, role-based access controls, and participating in compliance audits and risk mitigation planning.
Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and finance teams, contribute to quarterly planning and execution alignment, and provide mentorship to junior developers when applicable.

Educational & Professional Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of professional software development experience
Experience in healthcare or HIPAA-regulated environments
Preferred Certifications & Experience:
AWS or Google Cloud certifications
Healthcare IT certifications
Experience working in ABA, behavioral health, or healthcare environments
EMR system integration experience
Building internal dashboards or BI tools
Experience in scaling organizations (multi-location support)
