Office of Fiscal & Monitoring Services
We are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Agency's budget activities. We also conduct financial compliance reviews of ODJFS partners and sub-recipients, identifying operational improvement and risk reduction opportunities. This office includes the Bureaus of County Finance and Technical Assistance, Grants Management, Monitoring and Consulting Services, Audit Management Resolution, Planning & Operations, and Accounting. What You Will Do
We are seeking an eager, innovative, and industrious student intern ready to roll up their sleeves with data preparation, spreadsheets, analytic models, and dashboard presentations. The ideal candidate will thrive on the challenges inherent in dissecting complex problems, utilizing facts/data to derive a conclusion and delivering clear recommendations to improve results. Responsibilities include
Work as part of a team to use data analysis approach to solve business problems in daily operations
Create tracking tools that cross-reference information to communicate outcome measurements to applicable end users
Assist in creation of system documentation
Manipulate and analyze data from multiple sources to identify patterns and anomalies, draws conclusions and recommendations based on analyses
Assist in compiling data, creating and update spreadsheets and PowerPoint decks in support of assigned projects
Participate in the advancement of software, process methodologies, root cause analysis, value adding performance, concept and design
Attend training workshops and staff meetings, gain networking skills, and perform meaningful work related to their course of study

Ability to apply good logic and critical thought processes when developing solutions
Strong written and oral communication
Work with or without supervisor while completing assigned tasks
Ability to work within teams and maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires completion of multiple tasks
Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visual, Access, Pivot Analysis and basic macro functions, along with standard office equipment (e.g. fax, scanner, copier)
Understanding of research methods to review and analyze data
Preferred Qualifications
Academic degree which includes data analytics (e.g., Business Intelligence Analytics, Patterns and Recognition, Process Modeling and Analysis)
Experience with Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), or Data Mining Application (e.g., Caseware IDEA, Datawatch, Python, ACL, Tableau, Statistical Analysis System (SAS))
3.0 and above overall GPA
Schedule: Summer 2026: 20 - 40 hours/week. Hours must be worked M-F between 8AM – 5PM
Location: This position will report to the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower at 30 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university and in good academic standing. Proof of academic enrollment (current transcript copy) must be provided upon selection
Must have completed one (1) academic year of college
Must be 18 years old at start of employment
